Rehabilitation.

Recovery is an easy process with our programs.

If you have recently been to hospital for surgery, or have been incapacitated due to illness, New Farm Physiotherapy can work with you to regain your strength and mobility. Post-surgical rehabilitation will involve working with your surgeon so that your progression follows their protocol and meets the required milestones. ACL reconstruction, shoulder repair and internal fixation of fractured ankles are common conditions that require post-operative rehabilitation. If you are walking with crutches or a moon boot then physio will enable you to regain your normal gait when the doctor allows you to fully weight bear. If you are required to wear a sling post shoulder surgery for a certain number of weeks, the physio will help you regain your shoulder movement and formulate appropriate exercises.

Remedial massage is an invaluable tool to loosen up tight muscles that have not been stretched due to the surgery and bed rest. If you have been wearing a sling, remedial massage can loosen the neck and upper back. Pilates is useful for the later stages of rehabilitation. Strength, coordination and balance can be readily regained using Pilates.

Naturopathy.

The Natural healing.

Naturopathy is an holistic medical system combining philosophy, principles and practice that use an array of natural therapies to support healing and maintain health. It is a medical system that not only treats acute and chronic conditions but also places a huge emphasis on health education and disease prevention.

Naturopaths aim to treat the underlying causes of illness and disease. The core principle of "the healing power of nature" guides the naturopath’s use of nutrition, herbal medicine, manual therapies, and lifestyle education and stress management strategies. In a nutshell, naturopaths seek out the causes of your health problems: how what's going on inside your body relates to your diet, lifestyle, work and home environment. They then offer a range of natural treatments that may be based on lifestyle changes, exercise, herbal medicine, nutritional supplementation, and most importantly nutrition.

Remedial Massage.

Muscle and tendon restoration.

Remedial massage is an assessment and treatment of the muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissues of the body to assist in pain and injury management. The treatment may involve deep tissue work, stretches, release exercises or more likely a combination of all of them. Remedial massage is even more effective when combined with Finch Therapy because an initial Finch session will lessen muscle spasm and allow for improved relaxation of muscle groups during a massage session.
